Origin Story
At Unique Slow Rise Bakery + Cafe, our story began with drives to Vancouver for flavours we loved and a simple question: why not bring Dim Sum and Asian‑inspired baked goods to where we live? We’re Gabe and Unique — and we took a leap of faith to bring those flavours to Squamish.
Starting our journey at farmers market selling focaccias, we quickly realized that Squamish is looking for new and exciting options for food. Working out of a rented kitchen with clear limits sparked our creativity. We embraced our limitations to invent a menu of hand‑made baked goods, cozy dim sum and rice bowl plates, paired with Specialty Drinks like Milk Tea and Lemon Tea. Each item is a small creative leap: a practical workaround that became a community favorite.
We embrace a learner’s mindset and are committed to continually elevate the food offering in Squamish — refining our craft, curating experiences, and sharing our culture. Building our new location is the next step in that commitment, a space born of passion, possibility, persistence, and community.
